Q. Can I get a job even if I have no experience?
A. Absolutely. Every deckhand, captain and fishery worker started out as a greenhorn. If you have a strong work ethic, want to make a lot of money and follow the system in our book, you have a great chance of getting hired!

Q. I'm in college. Will I have enough time to get a fishing job in Alaska during my summer break?
A. You bet. The summer fishing seasons are timed perfectly for most college schedules and thousands of students each year earn their way through college by working in Alaska. The AFJG puts every fishery in each region of Alaska in an easy to follow calendar.

Q. How much can I make?
A. This depends on the type of job you get, the type of seafood species being targeted and how successful the season turns out. Many unpredictable variables come into play, but as a rule of thumb; seasonal crewmembers and processors typically earn between $5,000 - $15,000 during a summer season. Experienced crewmembers aboard crab vessels or long liners may make $25,000 to $75,000 per year or more. The purpose of this book is to explain the variables to you so you can then find the perfect job and make the most money.

Q. Are the jobs dangerous?
A. For the most part, the jobs listed in the Alaska Fish Jobs Guide are either near-shore fishing or shore based jobs that are relatively safe. The more publicized dangerous jobs like crabbing and fishing offshore are also listed and explained in greater detail so you know what you are getting into before you sign on.

Q. Is it safe to order online?
A. We use the services of IBill, one of the most reliable Internet banks in the industry. Their fraud prevention team uses state-of-the-art multiple detection systems.

Q. Do I need special software to download the book?
A. The online version of the Alaska Fish Jobs Guide is published in PDF format so you can download it quickly and print each page in full color in its original format. To do this, you need the Free Adobe Acrobat Reader.

Q. Can you guarantee that I will get a job?
A. Alaska Fish Jobs is a guide written by former fishery workers containing a proven system for finding work in the Alaska commercial fisheries. We are not a job placement agency, and cannot guarantee you a job. We can, however guarantee that your chances of finding a job will dramatically increase after you read our book.

Q. Can international workers land fishing jobs in Alaska?
A. Opinions vary on whether of not international workers can get jobs but everyone agrees that there are many variables that come into play. Depending on the season and circumstances, some employers say 'yes' and others say 'no'. Unfortunately, there is no clear cut answer on this, but with proper documentation and the right employer, there are opportunities for foreign workers.
